How to Play Queens
Queens is a logic puzzle played on a colored grid. Every puzzle has exactly one solution reachable by pure deduction — no guessing required.
The rules
- The board is an N×N grid divided into N colored regions.
- Place exactly one queen (♛) in each row, each column, and each colored region.
- No two queens may touch each other — not horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
- Tap once to mark a square with an X (where a queen can't go), tap again to place a queen, and once more to clear it.
- There is always exactly one valid solution. Use logic, never guessing, to find it.
Strategy tips
- Start with the most constrained regions — small or oddly shaped colors usually force a queen into one spot.
- When a row, column, or region has only one open square left, a queen must go there.
- Place an X in every square a queen would attack to quickly shrink your options.
- If two regions are squeezed into the same two rows or columns, those lines are 'used up' for every other region.
- Work in passes: each queen you place removes squares elsewhere and often triggers a chain of deductions.
